“Laurie’s progressive leadership in transportation, housing, the environment and children’s health uniquely qualifies him to be Mayor of Berkeley. Local leaders can rely on Laurie to work thoughtfully and collaboratively with them, to develop policies that make life better for the citizens of Berkeley and the East Bay." - Mayor Schaaf, August 2016
Mayor Schaaf joins other East Bay mayors in announcing her support of Laurie: Carol Dutra-Vernaci of Union City, Pauline Cutter of San Leandro, Bill Harrison of Fremont, Peter Maass of Albany, and Tom Bates of Berkeley.
The serious challenges facing our collective communities and the region - particularly the housing affordability crisis and homelessness - can only be effectively addressed when leaders and policy makers work collaboratively to marshal resources, ideas and strategies.
Laurie is ready and excited to join his colleagues in tackling these challenges.
